P.I. Bob Jones is hired to track down the long-lost Buddy Faro when Faro is set to receive a large inheritance. Jones traces Buddy to Baja, CA where he learns there is no inheritance, rather that the employer used Jones as a pawn to find Faro and kill him. Bob takes the drunk, washed-up Buddy back to LA, and gets him in shape. Bob and Buddy wend their way through the seedy underbelly of LA to find out who tried to kill them.

Buddy and Bob switch sides and work with Jaleel to find out who set him up and later, after the agent goes missing, locate him.
