"Book publisher Ben Stevenson has spent the last year and a half since his wife died being mother, father and confidant to his young son, Matty, now 12. With the support of his father, James and brother Carl, Ben has finally admitted that it's time to resume a social life. This process is proving more awkward than necessary since the modest Ben, with his offbeat wit and humble demeanor, has no idea how attractive he is to women. With the help of his co-worker, Alex, his devoted assistant Angela, and Alex's ex-wife Nicole, Ben begins taking baby steps toward dating -- just as Matty's beginning to learn about girls. Although the lines of communication have always been open between Ben and Matty, it seems that even the simplest conversations about women are becoming more complicated."
