Straker's Car

The gold car was Commander Straker's (Ed Bishop). Other characters however did get to drive it or one just like it. These are the blue prints for the car:

Here is a shot of the car arriving at an event with race car driver Graham Hill. This was before the car was modified for UFO.

Screen grabs of the car, from various episodes:

Some screen grabs of the car's interior, note the cool car phone and both how high the center console is and the fact it goes to the rear seat:

After UFO ceased production Straker's car was bought by Radio One DJ Dave Lee Travis, who was known as the Hairy Cornflake. He painted "UFO" on the doors of the car and during the 1970's used it when he made personal appearances.

In the 1980s the car was bought by someone in the Midlands. The car was had repainted with scenes from the series. Some of which survived. The then sat in a warehouse for years, until it was given to one of the owner's employees. The car fared even worse from this point since it was left to the elements. To make matters worse, a garage was built next to the owner's house preventing the car from being removed without a crane. The car was "rediscovered" in 2001 by the maker of a documentary "The Future Was Fantastic". These two pictures are from that production. It is unknown exactly where and what shape the car is currently in, since the owner who had let the car sit for years in his backyard allegedly had no interest restoring the car or in selling it to someone who would.
