"Two inseparable but thoroughly unique 12-year-old twin sisters, feminine Ashley and tomboy Mary-Kate, keep their unmarried father, Kevin Burke busy. Since their mother died four years ago, Kevin's little girls have grown up-they're no longer willing to discuss makeup, clothes and boys with Kevin, a preoccupied but protective college professor, or his fun-loving plumber friend, Eddie Fairbanks. Kevin and the girls live in Chicago, Illinois. Needing help caring for the rambunctious youngsters, Kevin advertises for a nanny. Kevin's first choice, Mrs. Baker, is a sweet, elderly woman. But the girls prefer Kevin's quirky and opinionated freshman student, Carrie Moore, whose eclectic tastes and free spirit make her the perfect baby-sitter for the mismatched twins."
