    This is a Party of Five spin-off, where Jennifer Love Hewitt's character, Sarah Reeves Merrin, leaves her long-time boyfriend Bailey in San Francisco to search for her father in New York. There, she meets new friends, who are going to help her to start her new life. Jennifer Love Hewitt won the 2000 People's Choice Award for best female performer in new television series for her role in Time of Your Life.

      Armed with courage and little information about her late birth mother, Sarah arrives in New York to find her father. After tracking her mother co-workers, she realizes that it will be very hard to find him. She finds her mother old apartment in the Village, and tries to move into it. But the apartment is occupied by Romy, an actress, and they agree on living together, since Romy can't afford the rent. She meets Maguire who owns the music store across the street, and gets a job as a waitress at the bar across the street with Joss.

      Joss and Maguire have a deal that they sleep together when they want, but with no pressure, just sex. Later, he tells her that he is interested in someone else. Maguire and Sarah kiss outside the bar, but then she apologizes and tells him that she has a boyfriend in San Francisco. Maguire gets disappointed. Romy and J.B. try dating, realize they have little in common, but when they find out they're both lactose intolerant, they get together. Sarah gets a job as a decorator for one of Archer's rich friend, Mrs. Halloway, and is offered to live in their house. But she turns the job down, because she doesn't want anything handed to her as she had back in San Francisco. Sarah tells Bailey that she's decided to stay in New York.

      Sarah needs money to go to San Francisco and see Bailey, and Romy has just been fired. So they decide to throw a party to raise money at 20 bucks a head. In the middle of the party, Sarah finds a letter from Bailey telling her that he can't have a long-distance relationship. J.B. finds her drunk on the stairway, and asks her if she wants to go out and get more liquor with him. They go to a tattoo parlor and she gets a 'Go Yankees' tattoo, and when Spencer shows up in the party, she asks him to take her to his apartment. She goes to his place and start undressing, when she realizes what she's doing and runs away. Joss and Maguire are hanging out in a club with some guys in a band he knows. They all go to the party. Kenny is hitting on Joss, and Maguire tries to warn Joss not to go out with him, but she thinks he's just jealous. She gets into the singer's limo, and he tries to have sex with her in the limo. She opens the door and jumps out, scraping herself up on the street. When she goes to Maguire's to get the spare key, since she left her purse in the limo, she has to face Maguire's "I told you so". Women surround J.B., but he tells Romy that despite he sleeps with women all the time, it's more special when you're waiting for the right moment with someone you really like. Cecelia meets an orthodontist at the party when she's choking and he saves her life.

    4. "The Time She Got Mobbed"

      J.B. has an older secret rich mistress, of whom he depends on money and emotional support. When Romy gets a role on a soap opera, she loses it to a woman who slept with the director, so she gets really depressed. Sarah's singing at the bar captivates Tony, a patron who has "connections" in the record industry, giving Sarah high hopes for her big break, but he's interested in more than that, so she gets Maguire to pretend to be her boyfriend.

    5. "The Time They All Came Over for Thanksgiving"

      Sarah meets a homeless man who gives her a rock. She discovers that once he was a conductor of the Metropolitan Opera. Her recording deal falls through when the recording company is shut down for tax fraud. Tony is worried that this will mean that Sarah won't want anything else with him. Spencer comes back and embarrasses himself in the bar so he and Sarah are even. Maguire's place runs out of power, so he stays with Sarah until Romy comes back. Sarah ends up having Thanksgiving dinner at her place with the four men in her life: the homeless, Tony, Maguire and Spencer. Sarah tells Tony and Spencer that they'll just be friends to her, the homeless man leaves her, and she finally kisses Maguire.

    6. "The Time the Truth Was Told"

      On Maguire and Sarah's first date, one of Maguire's old friend get out of jail, and with him, Maguire's drug-filled past. Sarah doesn't think that she can handle that, but she does. Maguire can't stand the fact that she keeps trying to change his lifestyle when he's scared to do anything differently. Romy breaks up with J.B., while he was trying to sleep with her, then he realizes that he's really in love with her. He ends his relationship with Joan and promises Romy a new beginning.

    7. "The Time They Had Not"

      Sarah takes a second job during the holiday season as a personal shopper for a woman who has to spend $20,000 on executive gifts. Sarah gets a taste of high-life, even though she is completely broke. Cecelia is also broke and can't afford to pay her hospital bills when she gets pneumonia. Joss's sister visits her and announces her pregnancy. Joss's parents tell them how much they're disappointed at them. Romy and J.B. start a real relationship, and they finally sleep together, but Romy finds out about Joan and gets upset by the fact that J.B. would sleep with someone for money.

    8. "The Time the Millennium Approached"

      When Sarah is kicked out of her apartment by Romy, Archer offers her his place for the New Year's Eve. and Sarah finds out about Joss and Maguire's "arrangement". Maguire get robbed and Joss gets fired. J.B. backs out of his millennium dream date. Romy and Joss sit around eating candy and watching TV. Sarah almost ends up as a third wheel on Archer's millennium date, but instead gathers all of her new friends together to ring in the millennium with her on the street.

Romy meets a theater critic who turns out to be married. Joss dates a single father. Sarah goes out with a string of obsessive guys. Romy lands a national television commercial. Sarah takes a job as an au pair for Spencer's stepmother.

    10. "The Time She Turned 21"

      On her 21st birthday, Sarah feels like she has no direction, and quits her job as Ashley's au pair. Spencer starts dating a supermodel, but softens towards Sarah. J.B. and Maguire start a DJ business together, but fight over a woman. Romy gets a national commercial, but has to eat the product which is a SPAM rip-off called FAM. Cecelia goes to her dentist friend, Andy, for dental help and they later go out on a date. He offers her a job as a receptionist, but ends up losing it.

      NOTE: The series is taken off Fox's schedule with no plans to get back whatsoever. The network announced later that the show wouldn't be back until summer, in a something called: "The Summer of Love". Apparently, the show got cancelled, with a small chance to get back for a second season. The show was replaced by That 70's Show reruns and later by a new comedy called Titus.

      Romy is having trouble embracing an acting teacher and her best friend, Molly, comes to visit her in New York. Maguire and J.B.'s DJ business hits a downfall. After Spencer and his girlfriend, Leya, have a fight, Leya asks Sarah to e-mail Spencer a letter about how she feels. But when Spencer responds back, Sarah is forced to go on-line and chat with him; which turns into a sexy on-line romance. Molly decides to stay in New York.

      NOTE: The series is back from the 5 months hiatus. If the ratings are good enough, Fox might pick it up for a second season, although the fall schedule is ready already.       Romy's friend, Molly, ingratiates herself more and more into Romy's life, seemingly stealing her friends and honing in on her acting class. Romy has had just about enough, but Sarah and Maguire find themselves becoming better and better friends with her. Then, the unimaginable happens - Molly is murdered during a mugging and Sarah, Romy and Maguire are overwhelmed with grief and guilt. Maguire feels that the hospital was negligent; Sarah is panicked about her own safety in the city; and, Romy is so emotionally shattered that she packs up her belongings and moves back home.

    13. "The Time They Were Scared of the City"

      Molly's death brings Sarah and Maguire closer together and they impulsively take things a step further romantically. However, the tragedy pulls Romy and JB further apart when she decides to move home to be with her parents in Portland. When he unexpectedly shows up on her doorstep, it's clear that she's determined not to move back to New York. Meanwhile, back in New York City Spencer tries to take Sarah's mind off things, but at first his attempts only seem to make her more upset. Maguire is busy safety-proofing Sarah's life - including signing them both up for self defense class. Finally, JB convinces Romy to come back with him and Andy convinces Cecilia that his interest in her is much more then she thinks.

    14. "The Time They Cheated"

      Romy decides that if her acting career is ever going to take off she needs to be more pro-active. When her agent won't submit her for an Off-Broadway show that she knows she's perfect for, she fires the woman; but, then can't get into audition without an agent. She finally manages to steal her way in and is offered the lead's understudy. Meanwhile, Sarah is still confused about what she should be doing with her life and thinks that singing could be it. Maguire, who is secretly in love with her, sets her up to audition for a band and when she doesn't get the gig, is openly honest about why - which hurts Sarah. His honesty is fueled by the fact that he is jealous that she is now dating Spencer - but since Spencer has not officially broken up with Leya, Sarah is reluctant about pursuing a romantic relationship with him.

    15. "The Time She Made a Temporary Decision"

      Sarah is discouraged that she has no idea what she wants to do with her life. However, she suddenly gets an idea when she helps Spencer out with a web site launch party and decides to open up her own Temp Agency. She finagles her way into the office of a high-powered company, with Maguire's help, and from there manages to get her first client. But, Spencer, whose own idea for a web site has just failed, is less than encouraging. Meanwhile, Romy and the assistant director for the play she is understudying spend time rehearsing together and JB becomes jealous.

    16. "The Time They Found a Solution"

      In an attempt to impress her first client, Sarah turns the record store into an office for her new business, Temporary Sanity, with the help of Maguire and Spencer. When Maguire's boss finds out, he is fired. Sarah feels very guilty about Maguire losing his job, but he is not as concerned - Sarah doesn't understand his reaction until she realizes that he was motivated by the fact that he is in love with her. Romy begins rehearsing with assistant director, Aaron. After he opens up to her about his life and the fact that he is HIV positive, Romy sees that she needs to make some changes in her own life, and she starts be being less inhibited in her feelings toward JB. Danny, Joss' new wealthy investor boyfriend, tells Joss that he is going to Aruba on business and invites her along. Joss initially turns down the offer but then reconsiders. It is all a mute point, however, when at the last minute Danny's trip is "canceled."

    17. "The Time They Got Busy"

      Sarah's Temp business is really taking off and she, Romy and Cecelia are looking for more temp employees. Spencer thinks he is being supportive but when he hires a consultant to meet with her, without her prior consent, Sarah blows her top. JB is thrilled with how much money he is making in his investment business with Danny, Joss' boyfriend, and doesn't see that the whole thing could be a scheme. He becomes suspicious, however, when someone, possibly a cop, starts asking a lot of questions. Romy and JB's mother hit it off, much to JB's relief; and, business problems are not the only ones that Sarah and Spencer have - they are also fighting about what happens, or doesn't happen, in the bedroom.

    18. "The Time She Found Her Father"

      Spencer asks Sarah for all his money back. Sarah is being sued by a client, and all this situation lets her in deep debts. JB finds a last client for his business, but turns out he's a cop and arrests JB. The officer tells JB he had lived in Sarah's apartment 20 years ago. The officer starts asking questions about Sarah to her friends until he finds out her last name is indeed Merrin - like him. He interrogates Sarah and confesses knowing her mom. He tells her he's her father.

    19. "The Time She Saved the Day"

      Sarah and her father talk about their relationship. Sarah is kind of disappointed at her father for being just an ordinary guy (a rude man, divorced 3 times). JB is sentenced to 3 months of jail. Romy lands an important role. Sarah finds out by her father that her mom abandoned her, and that her mom left him without ever telling where she went. Broke, Sarah decides to go back to San Francisco, until Maguire gives her his savings and decides to go on a tour playing his guitar. She accepts his money, stays in NY and saves the company. Maguire and Sarah kiss and he leaves. Sarah stays in NY with her father.
