Thanks for a wonderful site on the old live space shows. I have no direct memory of the shows, having been born in '55, but I have a great deal of envy for the memories of the experience of seeing them. These shows are the kind of thing I absolutely lived for as a kid and I have great interest in them. I own 3 Rocky Jones videos (features I assume built out of episodes) and I love 'em. Thanks again for all the obvious effort you've gone to documenting CV, it makes my heart warm to read the love in each page. Dave AdamsReturn to Top I have to say, what a delight to find your site. I can still remember looking forward to each Captain Video episode but getting up and "hiding behind the door" when Tobor appeared. What a wonderful memory and trip to the past. It was a time of great excitement and imagination. Thanks! Dr. CobbettReturn to Top I was born in 1948. I made space helmets from grocery bags and Saran wrap for the face shield, and used crayons to draw dials, knobs, and buttons. I was Sheriff Will and my sister was flying Shelby. We wore capes made from bath towels, which Mom safety pined to the shoulders of our shirts. Raggedy Ann and Andy had a Nit-Wit doll as their kid (we knew nothing about sex or where babies came from; who cared!) and they did battle with aliens from Outer Space (all the plastic dolls my sister had which she did not like, preferring cuddly plush toys). Then we would use the Easy Bake oven and make little cakes and have a tea party. Many of the stuffed animals wound up with chocolate stains. I still have my Clarabell marionette and my older brother still has his Howdy Doody and Tom Corbett marionettes, and we both have our Davy Crockett outfits. In October, 1958, we all went outside at night and watched Sputnik fly overhead. And one summer we first heard Jerry Lee Lewis singing "Great Balls of Fire!" Yeah, the Fifties were a great time to be a kid... I still have my first Teddy Bear... approaching his 56th birthday, and the puppy only chewed off part of one ear! Now I collect Daisy & Crosman air guns and pinball and electromechanical shooting galleries from the fifties and sixties. Thanks for the great web site! Will WhiteReturn to Top |
